Months (and Months) in Review!

Months (and Months) in Review!

Happy Thursday! It’s been a great week -- I think spring may finally be sticking around! Hope your temps are warming up too!

I realized the other day that I hadn’t done a month in review for quite some time. Like, five months. Oops!

Anyway, I thought I’d finally get on that. I like these posts because I know it’s easy to miss a project (we all know that would make you sad) and honestly, it makes me feel really accomplished when I put them all in one place. :)

A few months back I shared our (mostly) final dining room turned library:

It only took like two (three?) years. Our built ins are one of my best projects, not gonna even be humble here. I love them. :) As you can see from the pic above I’ve since added a table from World Market between the chairs. Still need to find or make the perfect ottoman.

I was so excited when I found this super easy transfer method and had to share it with you all (excuse the Christmas theme):

I used it on our chalkboard but you could use it anywhere! SO easy!

I declared January another no-spend month and it was seriously the BEST way to kick off the year. I think I’ll do it every January now. One of my favorite completed projects from that month was our basement kitchenette:

Still looking for the perfect mirror or art for the middle. I recapped all of my no-spend projects in this post – I got a TON accomplished and the house mostly decluttered and organized. I highly recommend it!

I use one piece of trim all. the. time. on various projects in our home and I shared just a few of the ways in this post. I think my favorite spot I’ve used it is on our new family room fireplace:  gray fireplace

I’ve gotten a great start on the kitchen reno over the past few months too. I showed you this updated photo of our new window seat the other day but this post shows how it was built and how I finished off this area with paint and tons of trim:

This window seat is truly a dream come true. I’ve always wanted one in our home and it is so perfect there.

I also finished up our kitchen island recently. It started like this:

It didn’t always look like that – it got torn up a little bit during last year’s renovation. But it did look like that for approximately seven months. ;)

I kept the island intact and built on to it – including a wine rack and a spot at the end for a (future) microwave and more storage:

It was actually a surprisingly easy and inexpensive project!

One of my favorite parts of the island is the part you can’t see! I made our kitchen doors soft close with a two minute change:

I’ve stalled out on the kitchen projects for the past month or so but am starting up again this weekend. :)

Last year’s renovation and the kitchen changes have change the family room and kitchen immensely!! I showed you how much with some updated pics:

Deciding to knock down a small wall turned out to be the best thing we’ve ever done in this house! Also, I totally spaced it on getting back to questions on that post and finally got those answered. Check the comments if you had a question about the reno so far!

I did work on a few projects that didn’t involve the kitchen. ;) This easy little craft caddy makes me happy and it functions wonderfully too!:

I love it!

I wanted to finish off the look of our master bed but didn’t want to spend a ton. You can see what I used to do just that here: dark accent wall

The internet can be a scary place but it can also be pretty darn awesome (duh…blogs!). I found some decorating infographics with tons of helpful info:

And finally, I told you about my favorite color (that I said I’d never use) and how my house is covered in it earlier this week:

board and batten walls

I loved reading your comments on that one! :)

There you go! Some my favorite projects from the past…uh, five months? I’m off to figure out the next one in the kitchen. I’m hoping I’ll have something to share with you next week! I’ll be spending time with my boy as we kick off spring break tomorrow, but don’t forget about the before and after link up coming up on Monday!

Have a great weekend!
